David Walliams lost his contract with publishing house.

David Walliams

Acclaimed writer for children and TV personality David Walliams has parted ways with his longtime publishing house, according to an announcement.

A spokesman for the firm said: "Upon deliberation, and under the leadership of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish future works by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the conclusion was made after an inquiry regarding claims about conduct deemed unsuitable directed at female individuals.

The publisher has not elaborated on the reasons for its decision, noting: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

A Highly Successful Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding in excess of 60 million copies internationally in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins back in 2008.

A number of his titles, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works combined, which features a festive story titled *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins this past October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss last fall.
