Indianapolis Colts Face Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action
Hello, fussball fans. How are you? Everything good I hope on this excellent morning kickoff to week 10 coming directly from Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Action
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his center to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a quick pass from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
