Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, adding that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".

After the tragedy, public figures expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were met with immediate backlash by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the death was made.
